Question: Can I put cockatiels in with budgerigars?

Answer:
Cockatiels and Budgerigars can co-exist quite well if the cage is large enough. You have to be sure to put enough of each seed type(cockatiels & budgerigars seed) in the cage for both types to eat as much as theyneed each day. Cage size: at least 90cm sq mtr per bird.

Question: My 2 Cockatiels won't come out of their cage. What can I do?

Answer:
Cockatiels can become what we call 'cage bound'. Get the birds out of the cage by placing a twisty rope perch from their favourite spot in the cage to a playgym nearby. Place bottlebrush in the cage which also comes outside the cage a little. Be patient.

Question: When I bought my pet Sun Conure his wings were cut. Within no time they have grown, how should I trim them?

Answer:
To trim your bird's wings do the following: use small SHARP scissors; trim outer wing feather tips only; trim 6 tips; test fly your bird and if he is flying too far trim one more tip; never trim above the little line of feathers that falls over the long outer tips and always trim both sides otherwise your bird will be lopsided.

Question: I was told that my budgerigar should eat pellets or crumbles. Should I feed him them alone or with seed too?

Answer:
Variety in your budgerigar's diet is the key to his well being. You should begin by adding a teaspoon per day on top of his fresh seed. Increase if he will eat more. The Vetafarm budgerigar crumbles we recommend contain 17% of protein. Seed has no protein. Just by adding the crumbles to his diet you are giving him that valuable protein.
