Drontal Chewable is recommended for the control of all gastrointestinal worms in dogs including: Roundworm - Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina. Hookworm - Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense (this hookworm is rare outside the coastal areas of North Queensland, Northern Territory and Northern Western Australia), Uncinaria stenocephala. Directions For Use - Administer the dogs correct dose from the hand as a treat. Drontal Chewable is highly palatable and 98% of dogs will consume it this way. Where necessary for dosage the product may be cut with a sharp knife to produce half chews. If necessary Drontal Chewable may be crushed and mixed in canned dog food. IT IS ESSENTIAL TO WEIGH DOGS BEFORE TREATMENT.
Dosage - 1 chew per 10kg bodyweight administered once.
Bodyweight.............Chews
3.1 - 5 kg..................0.5 5.1 - 10 kg..................1 10.1 - 15 kg...............1.5 15.1 - 20 kg................2 Over 20 kg................ 1 chew for every 10kg of body weight. Round off doses to the nearest half chew above.
HYDATID TAPEWORM - A single dose of Drontal Chewable is all that is required. However, this dose should be repeated every six weeks to ensure that newly acquired hydatid tape worms are expelled before reaching maturiry.
Dogs should not be fed, or allowed to feed on, offal from any species. Dogs in Hydatid areas should be treated every 6 weeks. It is important to ensure that the dog does not acquire offal in order to break the life cycle of the hydatid tapeworm. It should be noted that the hydatid tapeworm poses a severe risk to human health by transmission to humans from infected dogs.
HOOKWORMS & ROUNDWORMS Dogs And Puppies: Treat at 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks and then every month until six months of age, thereafter every three months or on veterinary advice. Pregnant Dogs: Treat at mating, then 10 days before whelping and at 2 and 4 weeks after whelping, then every 3 months.
WHIPWORMS - Treat every 6 to 8 weeks after 3 months of age.

Control of this tapeworm will require effective control of the local flea population. Worms, if present, may not appear in the droppings at all, or may not appear for up to 48 hours after treatment.
