The first thing that should be taken into consideration when buying your pet bird a toy is the size of the toy and the size of the bird. As a general rule of thumb the toy should be able to fit in your hand. This is because chains can come in two types: welded link chains which are safe for your pet bird and the closed link chains which are not safe. Some birds are birds that enjoy preening and grooming and so their natural instinct is telling them to constantly pick or even chew their feathers which unfortunately is not a healthy habit for them. If it gets extremely ragged and worn out then simply replace it with a new toy.
